Martin & Lorraine's Romantic Wedding
Valentine’s Day couldn’t have been any more romantic for ex-cricketer Martin Crowe and former beauty queen Lorraine Downes – the pair were married in an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends.
Lorraine was adamant she didn’t want a traditional wedding dress. “I had a meeting with Jane Yeh”, she said, “and said that at my age, I didn’t want to wear white or cream.” Lorraine also wanted a beach wedding and her dress to reflect the ocean. “It’s shades of the sea”, she said of the silk chiffon and organza gown in aquamarine which draped over, yet hugged, her body to the mid-thigh, and then floated out to form an undulating hemline. The delicate straps and the bodice were sprinkled with Swarovski crystals, which set off the plunging back. The aquamarine was repeated with tiny crystals floating through Lorraine’s hair, which tumbled down her back in loose curls. Swarovski crystal earrings, made by Jane, and silver mid-heeled sandals completed the dreamy look. Jane Yeh said the dress was designed to flatter Lorraine’s fantastic figure and the deep splits to the thigh provided a glimpse of her long, tanned legs. The flower girls, Jasmine and Emma, wore white tissue-silk chiffon tiered skirts and stretch satin tops dotted with crystals which were also designed by Jane.
