Icing on the cake - Master Chef Nadia's Wedding Triumph
A cooking catastrophe couldn’t dampen the joyous spirits on Nadia Lim’s big day.
As the winner of MasterChef New Zealand in 2011, Nadia Lim is used to high pressure drama and unpredictability in the kitchen. So it’s somewhat fitting that with just hours until her wedding to university sweetheart, Carlos Bagrie, spent her time performing intricate surgery on her wedding cake, which had meted during its four-and-a-half-hour pilgrimage from Auckland to the stunning Karikari Peninsula. Most brides might have had a meltdown of their own, but not Nadia. “I just thought it was funny!” she laughs. Nadia had rescued the melting cake with MasterChef reflexes, transforming it from a mess into a masterpiece.
The bride’s figure hugging gown with low back and lace detail was designed by Jane Yeh. The fabric was a heavy silk crêpe de Chine with French Chantilly lace trim.
